Join us for a long weekend of music and history in Portugal! Based in the beautiful city of Lisbon, we’ll spend two days visiting the site and surroundings of the first phase of the Peninsular War – which made the name of the Duke of Wellington. We also invite you to join us for a very special concert of songs and ballads from the Napoleonic Wars, especially created for this weekend.

GETTING TO LISBON from the UK

BY CAR

Brittany Ferries runs regular ferries from England (Portsmouth or Plymouth) to Northern Spain (Bilbao or Santander). From either Bilbao or Santander, Lisbon is approximately an 8-9 hour drive. The ferry takes around 36 hours from port to port.

BY TRAIN

It is possible to travel from the UK to Lisbon by train but it’s quite convoluted and takes a long time! We’ve never done so, but The Man in Seat 61 has a good in-depth article about how to do so here.

BY AIR

The easiest and fastest way to arrive is by air. Most UK airports fly regularly to Lisbon and the airport is almost in the city centre. The hotel is around 15 minutes by taxi from the airport.
